2009 FIBA Africa Championship for Women, Antananarivo, Madagascar.

ANTANANARIVO (2009 FIBA Africa Championship) - Cote d’Ivoire senior women national became the first country to book a semi-final ticket at the 21st FIBA Africa Championship for Women at the Palais Des Sports, Antananarivo, Madagascar with a 55-44 points win over Cameroon in the first quarter-final.

The young Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire powered to a first three quarters victories of 13-09, 16-09 and 14-10 to take the game out of the sail of the Cameroonians who try to fight back in the last quarter which could only yield a 16-12 point’s win for them.

Cote d’Ivoire guard, Kani Kouyate led the floor with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steal, Salimata Berte added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steal while Denaimou N’Garsanet grabbed 9 rebounds to complete to beating of the Cameroonians.

Cote d’Ivoire will meet the winner of the quarter-final game between Nigeria and Senegal in the semi-final billed for Saturday while Cameroon and the loser of the Nigeria Senegal encounter will start battle for position 5-8 of the championship.
